There are so many varieties of home decor for the Halloween season! Even though it's still steaming hot outside, it's a great idea to start thinking about the Fall.  It will be here before you know it!

This article is for crafters wanting to make their own DIY wreaths for their home as well as business owners who will make wreaths to sell in their shops.

We will show you ready made wreathes that you can buy online as well as videos that walk you through making your own. Check out the table of contents below for easy navigation.

Now is the time to start planning for the best selection and to lessen your stress level. Since Halloween and back to school run in close proximity, many people starting buying items for both of these events at the same time.

If your plan is to wait until after the kids are back in school, you may be surprised to find the selection is pretty much picked over at that time.

If you're watching your budget, shopping early can also help you take advantage of sale and discount pricing between now and the holiday season.

This article will cover wreaths, those that are handmade as well as the those available for purchase.

This article will show wreathes you can purchase now as well as a list of things to think about when selecting a wreath. We'll also throw in tutorials that will show you how to make your own wreaths, giving you the freedom to use the colors and materials you want.

One of the best ways to determine which wreath is best, is to ask yourself what you're in the mood for this year.  Will you create a kid friendly atmosphere, or will you lean toward blood and guts? Maybe you want a little bit of both.

Easy Handmade Halloween Wreaths

I saw the videos for these two handmade wreaths and decided to put the instructions for both of them in this article. I love both wreath's and was surprised to see how easy they were to make. One took about 12 minutes and the other was about 11 minutes.

Of course the designers had the materials ready to go, but that's not bad when you think of how great they turned out.

However, a handmade wreath is a good idea if you're creative and you want something with specific themes, colors or sizes that you can't find in the stores.

This is also something that requires time, so if you're looking at this today it gives you plenty of time to make these items. If it's the week before Halloween, depending on what else is going on in your life, it may not be a good idea to attempt to make these.

At any rate, making a handmade wreath is perfect when you need something special for your unique requirements. We've provided a list of supplies for each so you can tally up how much it will take to make them and compare that to the prices of the ready made wreaths found below.

These videos walk you through the materials and the process for making wreaths for Halloween, with step by step instructions.

Things to Consider When Planning Your Halloween Decor

Here are a few areas to consider when you are making decisions about the kinds of decor you want to use this year.

  • Size Needed
  • Materials
  • Themes/Colors
  • Kid Friendly or Adults
  • Your Budget
  • Use and Purpose
  • Size of Your Wreath. Depending on the size of the area you are working with, for example the doors or windows in your home, you may decide on a really large wreath. Do you have one or two entry doors that you need to cover.
  • Materials. The materials used to make the wreath will be an indicator of how many seasons they can be used. If your goal is to use your wreath for one season only, the materials aren't a big issue. However if you want  to use your wreath for more than one season, consider the quality of the materials used. Also are the pieces secured using quality materials. So quality ribbon, no paper or if cardboard is used make sure it's sturdy,

Some wreaths are made of ribbon, decorative mesh, a wire frame and various decorations. Handmade wreaths can give you much more control over the materials and quality of your wreath and decorations in general.
  • Theme. What is your theme? There are witches, ghosts, Frankenstein, bats, haunted houses, spiders, pumpkins, spooky environments, the fog, and more. In addition to that, we have farmhouse, minimalist and rustic styles to choose from. Choose the theme and style you want and buy items that fit those categories.
  • Family Friendly. Are there children in your household? Will you make this Halloween a family friendly activity or is it all about the adults. Family friendly Halloween's include buying items appropriate for everyone in the family. Some families include pets in their purchases.

A family friendly Halloween looks a lot different in many cases, from an adults only event.
  • Budget. How much do you want to spend on decor? You planning should include outdoor decor (like wreathes) should take into account any yard signs, lighting, wreaths, porch signage, and more. If you have items that will be hanging you might want to read the instructions to make sure you have hardware to hang up your items.

Once you have your list complete, it's time to determine how much it will cost. One great thing about ordering online is that you can compare pricing so that you don't pay more than you have to.
  • Use and Purpose. What purpose will your wreaths and decorations be used for? Will you use them outdoors for the Halloween season and beggars night only? Will you need wreaths and wall hangings to decorate the inside of your home? Will you have guests over for celebrating or will it be just you and your family? This will determine the quantity of products you'll need to purchase.

Round or Rectangular Wreaths?

What looks better in your space? A round wreath or a longer swag wreath that sits in the middle of your door or on each side of the door based on how your front door is arranged?

This wreath that says "BOO",  is blooming with Fall's bounty, echoing the fall tones found in nature in the most amazing way.

For design enthusiasts, there’s more to Halloween than sweet treats. From strategically placed pumpkins to carefully curated cobwebs, the right Halloween decorations can get your space in the Halloween spirit while displaying your personal style.

When it comes to seasonal decor, there’s also a very fine line between chic and shabby. Pumpkins and a black-and-orange color palette might hit the right note in small doses. But one false move and your space can look nightmarish—and not in a good way.

The good news is it’s possible to find the right balance between creepy and stylish.

This wreath will greet your guests with a WOW factor. Gorgeous black velvet with silver skull ribbon dominates this swag.

Adorned with silver skull, pumpkins, and more Each wreath, arrangement and swag is meticulously handcrafted, using only the highest quality silk florals and greenery.

This wreath style is longer, coffin shaped and sits on your door.

Finding the right mix of colors, home decor style and theme, and your decorating style will contribute to meeting the goal of having a safe, happy, fun Halloween and Fall season.  In the grand scheme of things that all that matters. Check back for more ideas.
