This tutorial will show you how starting a video channel and creating a video marketing strategy can help you transform visitors from strangers to fans.

This means that by using videos that place you in front of the camera (versus behind it), you can not only build an audience, but you'll be able to create a connection that is second only to being there in person.

And guess what? Videos are also digital assets, which means you can include them in your training programs, package them with other digital products for a bundle that you sell, and more.

The human brain is hardwired to respond to faces over all other forms of communication. We communicate and understand the world around us first and foremost through facial cues

Studies show that our brains are heavily activated when we look at faces, significantly more so than objects, animals, or bodies.

Did you know photos with faces in them are more likely to receive 38% more likes and 32% more comments?

Faces draw attention. This attraction principle is crucial in marketing and selling.

Showing your face on social media is a great way to build trust with your followers and is an even better way to connect and engage with your audience

Keep in mind that being in front of the camera and showing your face helps you attract more people to your business. And your message does a great job of sorting out people who are not a good fit, giving you the potential to generate more qualified leads and sales.

Starting a YouTube Channel is a Great Way to Expand Your Reach

If you haven't done so already, starting a YouTube video channel is free and it allows you to connect with an audience in your niche.  If you haven't identified your niche I would suggest reading the article on using your interests to select a niche.

Videos last forever, and if you choose a topic that creates evergreen content, your videos can help you earn for years to come.

Interesting You Tube Facts

  • YouTube has over 2.3 billion monthly active users in 2022.
  • YouTube also has 122 million daily active users.
  • Roughly 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every day.

The Importance of Market Research

Until you know who you are selling to, you will most likely spin your wheels, trying to figure out what to say, finding the right keywords or where to place your content.

Without selecting a niche and understanding your market, you will also have a hard time coming up with quality content that makes sense to your audience.

Another thing to keep in mind is that everyone is not your ideal customer, so if you're saying the right things to the wrong people, choosing a niche will help you get much better results.

In your videos you can show your audience (people in your niche) how to do things, share success stories, educate them with tutorials, demonstrations and courses. You can keep them informed about what's going on in your industry and business, hold live events, and much more.

One of the biggest benefits of being consistent with a video marketing strategy has to do with tapping into tons of YouTube traffic. Once you audience grows to a certain level, you can monetize your channel to earn from paid ads.

With affiliate marketing, you can start earning right away, by using video to demonstrate and provide honest reviews of your affiliate products.

In your calls to action, you can ask your viewers to head over to buy the product or service or send them to content that provides more details.

If you have a blog, you can post your videos on your blog that might contain a complete tutorial, series or course that shows people how to do something.

Once you've created a stellar, training, review or demonstration video, you can use video editing tools like the ones mentioned below to chop it down into smaller videos that can be used on various social media channels as shorts, reels and video pins, giving you even more traction.

The One Minute Video Challenge

Is really simple... if you're not already making videos, do the following to connect with more of our ideal customers:

  • Choose a topic. Think about what you want to accomplish and what your audience needs to reach their goals
  • Get your cell phone out
  • Attach it to a tripod or selfie stick (optional). Don't let not having a tripod of selfie stick stop you from making a video.
  • Make a week's worth of one minute videos for the first week for the dates Monday - Friday. You might consider changing your wardrobe for each video, but it's not necessary.
  • Each week, add a minute to the length of your vertical format videos
  • Post your videos on YouTube and other social media platforms

What Happens When You Connect with Your Audience

When you connect with your audience, great things will start to happen. You will start to notice that you're getting more traffic to your platform. More people will join your list. You'll start getting more feedback and questions from your audience because people will start looking to you for answers.

That's why it's important to have a channel or platform that you can send people to so that they can learn more. So that in your call to action, you can say something like "head over to my website for details on _________ (you fill in the blank) subject.

Or after each video message, you can say something like, "to receive more business building tips like this delivered to your inbox, head over to my blog to sign up for my news!

This is important because people who are interested in your topic, who are already spending money on products and services like yours, are the people who will support your business, signing up for your events, joining your list, and buying your products.

Videos also help you to sort out people (disqualify) who are not interested in your content and that's a good thing.

So don't be afraid to put yourself out there, be yourself and create videos. If you're terrified of being on camera, do it in bite sized pieces.

For example, introduce your video, deliver the hook and call to action, then transition to sharing your screen, or doing an over the shoulder demonstration for the remaining portion of your video. At the end, you may want to come back to deliver the final call to action.

Tools for Making Quick Videos

All you need to get started making videos is a cell phone and as an option, a tripod. However to quickly optimize your videos and add things like captions, stickers, and text as well as clip out and resize your videos for various social media channels, you can use the free tools listed below.

Here are the tools designed for both iPhone/Mac and Android/PC users:

  • CapCut - for iPhone and Mac users
  • Veed.io - for PC and Android users
  • Adobe Premier - comes with Adobe Creative Cloud

Pack a Powerful Punch with Your Videos

This doesn't mean you have to write out a script and read it word for word, but it can help when you are trying to figure out what to say and how to make the most impact with your viewers.

Think about what you want your viewers to take away from your videos and the actions you want them to take while watching.

  • Opening - Start your videos with a great opening that grabs the attention of your ideal customers (people who are most likely to buy your product or service). Your opening should answer the question, "why should someone look at your video?"
  • SEO - Be sure to mention relevant keywords while delivering your video. YouTube can decipher the words you say so be sure to include them in your statements. Insert keywords you want to rank for in your title, captions and descriptions.
  • Call to Action - Take a sentence or two to ask your viewers to take action. This would be your introductory call to action that asks your viewer to take action with your business. In this call to action, you could do something as simple as reminding them to like, subscribe and hit the bell icon to be notified when you publish new videos. You could also refer them to content on your website that provides detailed information about whatever it is you're discussing.
  • Deliver Your Message - Your valuable insight that provides visitors with a short demonstration, quick tips, an inspirational talk, quote of the day, training, etc.
  • Closing call to action - Your final call to action could be to refer them to a place on your platform where they can get details, a course that shows them something step by step, ask them to sign up for your news, send them to an affiliate product. Use a pretty link to make it easy to get to the information you want them to have.

Types of Videos You Can Create

  • YouTube Video Shorts - YouTube Shorts are short, vertical videos (60 seconds or less) created using a smartphone and uploaded directly to YouTube from the YouTube app, like Stories.

Shorts creators can qualify for the YouTube Partner Program, which means they can earn ad revenue from YouTube.

Creators will need at least 10 million views over the previous 90 days in order to join the Partner Program. Once they’re in the program, creators will earn 45% of ad revenue from their videos.

The Partner Program is a pretty compelling reason to focus your short-form video efforts on YouTube. If you’re able to build an audience on the platform, you could be in for some serious cash.
  • Instagram Stories - an in-app features that allows users to share ephemeral content available for 24 hours. With Instagram's current UI, recently posted Stories are denoted by a gradient border around the user's profile picture.

When posting an Instagram Story, you can add stickers, time stamps, and doodles to each Story and apply certain filters and effects.

If your account is public, your Story is visible to anyone, but if your account is private, your Story is only visible to those who follow you.

Viewers have the option of directly responding to your Story via direct message (DM), liking it, or sharing it with their followers. You do have the option to disable replies in your app's settings.

You can also see who's viewed it by opening up your Story and swiping up on your screen.

  • Pinterest Video Pins - Video Pins feature a single video or multiple videos and images in one Pin. You can add effects like text overlay, music, stickers and more to make them interactive.
Video Pins automatically play when they appear in your home feed and they have cover images to capture attention.
  • Video clips can be anywhere from 3 to 60 seconds long.
  • Product Pins feature products that are available to buy from the merchants listed in the Pins. They'll direct you to the merchant’s website.
  • When you save a product Pin to any of your boards, it will be automatically added to your shopping list, which only you can see on your profile. If you want to hide this shopping list from your profile, learn how.

Creating videos is a requirement if you're interesting in making a quick and easy connection with your audience using short, quick and easy clips as well as longer tutorials based on the platform.

Ways to Repurpose Your Videos

Here's a way to repurpose videos that provide insight, training, news or valuable content that your audience would love to receive.

You can place them across a number of platforms and social media channels to get more exposure.

  • If you're making videos on your phone, they are already in 9:16 aspect ratio which makes them a good fit for certain platforms. However you might want to use a video editing tool that will make it easy to format them for platforms that have different requirements.
  • If you're making larger format videos with a 16:9  aspect ratio, once you've completed your video, upload it to a video editing app like CapCut or Veed.
  • Use these tools to easily crop and resize your videos for various platforms like YouTube and Vimeo.
  • Add captions, text, stickers, calls to action to your videos to grab attention, help viewers watch for longer periods of time and make them more interactive.
  • Next you'll want to think about distributing your videos.
  • Once you videos are uploaded to YouTube, you can download the transcript and use it for a blog post.

Popular social media platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, TikToc, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr and more are perfect platforms for your videos too, because that's where your audience is... and all of these platforms are free! The possibilities are endless!
